Meditation

A fascinating article following the Dalai Lama on his speach at the Society for Neuroscience's annual conference at the Washington Convention Center. The line dividing conventional positivist science and spiritual quests are thining, increasing the risk, on both sides, of crossing it. A must read.

Meditation

What fundamental purpose does raising the Kundalini serve? Why would one want to do it and who (what type of person) would want to do it? At what level of development is one ready to undertake the exercises of Kundalini raising? Are there various degrees of experience in Kundalini raising? I understand some people have their crown chakras opened up for minutes or hours after the experience, while others have them opened for many months at a time. Does this mean one experience was more powerful than the other?

These are some of the questions answered in this article, authored by Robert Bruce.

One of these manuscripts (...) discusses passive versus active thought-meditation. This amazingly contemporary treatise sheds light on some of the pitfalls of passive meditation and lends insight into the distinctions between passive and active meditation. The following is a translation and adaptation of this manuscript into English, followed by a few notes (...)"
